Case File 2: The Chang Case Part 1 Classified: For Official Use Only Two days have passed since the explosion. The fire department has now brought the blaze under control. The building is a genome research facility. We don't yet have any information about what was being worked on there. The corporations are doing everything in their power to keep us away from the building. I'm making a note to have an investigation carried out later in Gildenstein. The interior of the building resembles a ruin; smoke constantly rises from the rubble. The number of victims is still unknown, but it feels like I'm stepping over another body every two meters. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Shadows of ash on the walls where a poor soul has burned. The fire was so hot that only the shadow of the person remains. The smell of burnt flesh is everywhere. Destroyed machinery and equipment are scattered about. Small fires are still burning here and there; fire crews are already dealing with them. Those fools destroyed a large portion of the evidence with their firefighting efforts. So far, everything points to an accident, but I'm not so naive as to believe that. Especially since Leon and Daley are here too. Hana: Hey you two, what's the Anti-Boomer Unit doing here? Leon: Well, isn't that little Hana? Hana: I'm not little... Daley: I heard Genom is supposed to hold a press conference in an hour. Hana: Interesting, I'll check it out. Thanks for the info, Daley. Daley: You're welcome, Hana. Meanwhile. Priss: Linna, what's wrong? Don't dawdle. I have a performance later. Linna: Ahh, sorry Priss... That was Irene, i think. Priss: Irene? Linna: I know her from one of my fitness classes. Her husband works at the facility that exploded two days ago. She still hasn't heard from him. Priss: She didn't look very well. Maybe we should go and see her. Linna: Yeah, you might be right. Priss and Linna follow Irene, who's on her way to the press conference. I have to hurry, or I'll be late. I hope I get some new information about Roy's whereabouts today. She catches it effortlessly mid-movement and holds my fist in her hand. Her laughter sends a shiver down my spine, then she squeezes. I feel like she's breaking my hand as her other arm shoots out and grabs my throat. She's cutting off my air; my lungs are burning, and I can barely keep my eyes open... Daley was right; there really was a press conference, but once again, it was just corporate drivel. Then a scream cuts through the silence. A woman in a black dress has just knocked another woman to the ground, and two others rush to her aid. I have to intervene; I draw my pistol and fire a warning shot.
