Maomao × Cresselia

Late one evening, Maomao is still working on an unusual medicinal concoction when one of her vials suddenly reacts to an unfamiliar purple glow. Of course, her first instinct isn’t to keep her distance. She sniffs it, examines the color, and begins to wonder what substance could trigger such a reaction. Then, a rift in the world opens right above her workbench. Maomao is pulled through it along with some of her potions and lands in a strange forest. There, she discovers numerous animals and Pokémon suffering from an unknown form of poisoning. Instead of looking for a way home first, she naturally begins collecting plant samples. In the center of the forest, she finally finds Cresselia. The Legendary Pokémon, too, has been weakened by Echora’s distorted resonance energy. Dark crystal veins run through its aura, causing severe nightmares for all creatures in the vicinity. Maomao realizes that this is no ordinary poison. Nevertheless, she begins to experiment systematically. She discovers that certain medicinal plants from this world react to Cresselia’s lunar energy. Using an improvised remedy, she is able to partially reverse the poisoning. When Echora then attempts to forcibly activate the remaining crystal shard, Cresselia protects Maomao with its psychic energy. Maomao, however, refuses to back down. She reaches for the crystal and even analyzes its effects as she does so. At that moment, the Legendary Moon Resonance occurs. Cresselia’s light flows through Maomao’s body. She is suddenly able to perceive any harmful substance within a living being as a glowing pattern. Her first reaction to this incredible power is typical Maomao: “Interesting… I should test whether this works on snake venom, too.” Cresselia doesn’t see her as a warrior, but as someone who uses knowledge to protect life.
