As part of being members of the Common Defense Corps Reserves, male and female elves are quite familiar with the phrase "assume the position." They know that the phrase implies both compliance with an officer’s or senior non-commissioned officer's command and readiness for a physical task. But elvish folk also have a more intimate use for the term. When elves, regardless of gender, wish to indulge in sexual intimacy, "assume the position" indicates the initial stance each partner must use for a proper beginning to a successful sexual liaison.
