Case File 2.3: The Chang Case Part 4 Classified: For Official Use Only My car is actually being towed away. Without a second thought, I run toward the tow truck, gesticulating wildly. But he has already loaded my car and is driving off. No chance. Dejected, I walk back to Irene. Linna: I’m sorry, Irene. It looks like driving you home is a no-go. Irene: Oh, it’s really not a big deal. I don’t live that far away, anyway, and besides, I’d actually prefer to walk. Thanks, Linna; I’m feeling a bit better now. Amber: They’re splitting up—this is our chance. Brian: Then go. I accelerate the sports car and speed past the dark-haired woman. As I pull alongside her, I roll down the passenger window and rev the engine several times. She turns toward me, and the annoyance on her face gives way to horror as she spots me—and the gun in my hand. I fire three times. Then I accelerate; my job isn’t finished yet. On the opposite side of the street: My contact is taking an awfully long time to show up. What’s strange is that I can’t reach her, either. A sports car accelerates, revving its engine repeatedly. These punk kids... Three gunshots plunge the street into terror; people scream and scatter. The sports car speeds off and vanishes into the night. I sprint across to the other side of the street. A young woman is sitting on the ground right where the shots rang out. She looks familiar... isn't that...? I run toward her. Hana: Linna? Linna, can you hear me? She seems frozen in shock. I hastily examine her; thank God, the bullet only grazed her face and neck. Hana: Hey, Linna! Snap out of it! The shock begins to recede, and she looks up at me in horror. Linna: Detective? Hana: It’s going to be okay; I’m here. The bullet only grazed you. Linna: It was her! That Amber. Oh God—Irene! What about Irene? Hana: Calm down. Where is Irene? Linna: She decided to walk home. Please—you have to find her, fast! Hana: I’ll find her! I grab my phone and call Chris. Hana: Chris—no time for explanations. I need Irene Chang’s address, right now. I sprint off from my crouched position. Mason—he orchestrated this whole thing. What is that bastard planning? I recognize the address Chris gives me; I have to hurry.
