Clown Princess Cupcake

Every year, during the first week of May, the Principality celebrates absurdity. People recognize and accept that life can, at times, be difficult. However, the people also recognize that life is rife with opportunities for laughter and silliness. The Absurdity Festival provides a week of gaiety, frivolity, and just plain fun. The Festival's varied activities are overseen by Clown Princess Cupcake, a cheerful soul who embodies absurdity. The Clown Princess is easily distinguishable by her white face paint, her red nose, and her splashes of color. She wears a slightly gaudy tiara, an exquisite gown, and a cheerful smile. She wanders among the festival goers, waving, smiling, and, on occasion, rewarding a lucky male visitor with a gentle kiss on the cheek. The selection process for the year's Clown Princess Cupcake begins in mid-March, with young women submitting applications. Each applicant goes through three preliminary rounds of interviews and auditions. The field is narrowed down to three finalists, who best demonstrate the necessary inclination and aptitude to serve as Clown Princess Cupcake. The process was a bit strenuous, but in the end, we had our Clown Princess Cupcake: Marissa Lenkowski. Ms. Lenkowski is 19 years old and attending university to pursue an education degree, with an eye toward becoming a kindergarten teacher. The expectations for this year's Absurdity Festival are high, but, if past history is any indication, everyone attending the Festival will be giddy with delight.
