Always Faithful

Joan and Sage first met as recruits reporting to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island for boot camp. They survived 12 weeks of physical and mental transformation, discipline, and combat readiness. Newly minted Marines, the two women were now good friends. Over the next four years of active duty, Joan and Sage stayed in touch. In two instances, they found themselves assigned to the same duty station. When the two completed their active duty stint, Joan and Sage realized they were more than just friends and wanted to live together. They took advantage of the Post-911 GI Bill, went to college, and decided to live in Seattle. The two women enjoyed barhopping in the evening, but were aware that some men thought them easy pickings. Joan and Sage made use of their hand-to-hand combat skills and sent a clear message: Don't mess with us.
