Aaaahw! 🥹 Thank you @gildenstein for this wonderfully heartwarming post! Ankha seems to have finally settled down for now. I think she still might have to confront some of her fears in the future, but we'll take it one step at a time. She can at least rest easy, knowing she has such a great friend in Akiko! 🥰

The morning after Panda Con.

What a party! It’s already 9 AM, and I really ought to head home. Why on earth did I let myself get talked into covering a shift at work tonight? My thoughts begin to drift, and I see Annie in my mind's eye—that kiss, the way she drove me to orgasm. *Akiko, pull yourself together.* Hey, isn't this the apartment where Ankha lives? That phone call tonight... if I hadn't been so horny, I would have realized this sooner. I’d better check on her. She really is into all that Egyptian stuff—hieroglyphs everywhere. Ah, there’s the front door... it’s standing ajar. That’s strange. I reach for the handle and push it open. Akiko: Hello? Ankha, are you in there? I know I shouldn't be doing this; I have a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. Maybe I should call Hana. I dismiss the thought, however, when I hear a faint sobbing coming from inside the apartment. I summon my courage and step inside, flinching briefly as the front door slams shut and locks behind me. I hadn't counted on that... I take a deep breath and follow the sound of the sobbing. The rooms are likewise adorned with hieroglyphs; it reminds me of a pyramid. Akiko: Ankha? Still no answer. The sound seems to be coming from behind the door at the end of the hallway. I move slowly toward the door, reach for the handle, and push it open. The open door reveals the bedroom; it looks just like the other rooms. Against the far wall stands a bed; sitting on it is Ankha—her legs drawn up tight, her arms wrapped around her knees. She is trembling and weeping bitterly. Tears stream down her cheeks. Akiko: Ankha? Ankha, can you hear me? She doesn't react; she’s in shock. I walk over to her and visually inspect her; fortunately, she doesn't seem to have any external injuries or to have done anything to herself. It must have an emotional cause. I sit down beside her on the bed and gently pull her into an embrace. I caress over her hair and speak soothingly to her. We remain like this for a few minutes until she finally notices me. Akiko: Hey, it’s good that you’re back here. Ankha: A... ki... ko...? Her voice cracks; I have to be careful she doesn't slip back into a state of shock. Akiko: Shhhh, everything is fine, sweetie. I’m here. Just calm down. I can't say how long we just sit there, but she gradually begins to settle down. Her body has stopped trembling. Akiko: Would you like to talk to me about it? If not, that’s okay too. She nods and tells me about her dream—the bear with the glowing eye and the evil laugh. The men who passed her back and forth like a toy... Pull yourself together, Akiko; whatever you do, don't let her see that this turns you on right now. Luckily, I’m wearing pants, so she can't see how wet I am... Ankha finishes her story. She’s trembling again, but this time she seems to be cold; I take off my long-sleeved shirt and put it on her. Akiko: I understand. Such a vivid dream is certainly strange. I really should get going, though; I have the night shift tonight. Ankha: Please don't go. Can't you stay with me a little longer? Please? She snuggles up against me, and I just can't bring myself to leave her alone right now. Ankha: The night shift? You’ve never told me what you do for a living. Akiko: I am a nurse. Her soft breathing tells me that she has finally fallen asleep. Don't worry—I am watching over you. Sleep well.
