Mitsuki’s cheek was warm where his mouth had been. Her eyes searched his, shy and open, as if she were giving him room to stop. She did not stop. She pressed a careful kiss to the corner of his mouth, lingering a second longer than a peck, then looked at him. He answered with a full kiss on her lips. For a heartbeat she went still. Then a soft, shaky sound escaped her and she melted into it. Her mouth was warm and careful at first, uncertain, like she was remembering how this worked. Her hand slid to the side of his neck. When she drew back to breathe, her forehead rested against his. “Ken. I didn’t expect that to feel so…” She kissed him again, still gentle, still a little shy, but with more intention. Her body eased closer until the soft curve of her chest brushed him through the brown turtleneck. “I haven’t done this in so long. I keep thinking I should stop, that this is complicated, but I don’t want to. Tell me if I’m doing okay?” His arm closed around her waist. She fit there. “This feels right to me. It may be complicated but I’m ready for it. You are doing great, Mitsuki.” She melted into the hold as his hand found the curve of her lower back. “I think I might be ready too. Even if I’m still a little nervous. You feel really good. Will you stay a while longer?” “Yes, of course. I’m here for you.” Both of his arms gathered her in. She sank into the hug without hesitation. When his hands traced slowly along her spine she shivered once and pressed her face into the side of his neck. “You feel so solid. So warm. I forgot what it was like to be held like this. I’m here for you too.” Her hands moved in slow strokes along his back. One drifted lower, resting just above the curve of his hip. She kissed him again, deeper, less hesitant. Her mouth opened under his, and a soft sound escaped her when their tongues met. “Ken. If you keep holding me like this, I’m not sure I’ll be able to stay careful much longer.” “Me neither. Let’s both give in.” His hand slipped underneath the hem of her turtleneck at the waist and found the soft bare skin there. She drew a thin breath. She did not pull away. [TO BE CONTINUED]
