He opened his mouth to protest, but after a moment he sighed. “Alright… I’ll be in my room if you need me.” He closed the door quietly behind him. Ankha clung to Tara, her sobs slowly easing. When she finally pulled back a little, Tara guided her over to the bed and sat beside her. “Talk to me,” Tara said softly. “What was it this time?” Ankha wiped her eyes with a shaky breath. “It’s the same nightmare again… that horrible basement. There were hands everywhere—coming out of the walls, the floor… They grabbed me and I couldn’t get away. And that bear… it always feels so real. I haven’t slept properly in weeks, Tara. I don’t know what to do anymore.” “Oh, Ankha…” Tara’s voice was full of sympathy. She squeezed her friend’s hand. “I wish I could make them stop. Listen, secure the area; I'll try to pin it down on the roof until the main squad gets here," I say, and sprint off. "What?!? Fuck, Hana, stay here—it's too dangerous!" I hear Leon shouting, but the EMP is the only chance we've got. After a few minutes that feel like an eternity, I catch up to it. This time I have no advantage; he spots me the moment I step onto the roof and launches his attack. Damn, he’s fast—I dodge to the side as his claws slice through the air where my head had been just milliseconds before. I use the momentum to counter, but he anticipates it and dodges in turn. If his systems are functioning even minimally, he should have detected the EMP. He noticeably shifts into a defensive stance, waiting for me to make a careless mistake. The exchange continues: attack, dodge, counter. He’s exploiting the fact that he doesn't tire—damn it. "HANA! TAKE COVER!" A voice cuts through my concentration just as a burst of gunfire hits the Boomer. Daley—that fool—followed me... The machine shifts its attention and targets Daley.
