A NOUVELLE NOIR (Part 3)

In a dark, almost empty room, a naked body hangs. Unconscious, motionless. Silence all around. Long burgundy hair pointing down, defeated. Though one could not say the same about the breasts; standing firm, solid, like two strong guards facing the world forward. The naked body as still as the night outside. Though the conscious mind is asleep, the nervous system is still awake, working, as it ought to be. It sends a signal to the brain: <Wake up, we need to move> - “Wha - “ Her body jolts. An automatic response from the nervous system when blood is not flowing properly to all parts of the body. Her legs react, the soles of her naked feet get placed properly on to the floor holding all 135 lbs of soft skin and sturdy bones. She feels relieved. She manages lift up her head, wiggle the fingers and toes. - “I can not see you, but I can smell your cheap cologne” Detective Pearl says to the void. - “Finally, she wakes up” A male voice is heard behind her. She is not afraid. *If that man wanted to hurt me, he would have done that by now. Instead he kept me hanging here, like a hunter’s trophy* Pearl thinks. - “Enjoying the view??” She asks. - “Very much! It is not every day that one gets to admire the great Detective Pearl Jennings in the flesh. Literally… quite literally.” - “I’m glad one of us is having fun” - “Oh don’t worry, you will too when you find out why you are here” the mysterious man replies. (to be continued)
