They met at The One Eyed Cat, a local 24/7 diner right around the corner from the station. The safest place in all of HornyTown because it is usually crowded with `blues’. - “Lady from first post - watch out - dangerous.” Repeated the Commissioner. - “Yes, that’s all the guy said according to the nurse.” - “Could he be referring to the bar ’First Post’? The one at the end of Leadership Street over at the docks?” Asked the Commissioner. - “That’s exactly what I thought” replayed Pearl “The owner is a powerful woman, and if there is someone that knows what goes in and out of Waifu Bay that would be her” - “Of course! Why didn’t I think of her in the first place” - “It’s because she has managed to lay low for a while now” Said Pearl. “Oh, and the guy who fled the hospital…? Johnny Astor" - “Flower boy??” Pearl nods. Commissioner wets his mustache on the coffee cup as he takes a big sip and thinks. Then: - “Jennings, from now on you are off the uniform. I need you undercover. No one at the docks will talk to a ‘blue’. I’ll assemble a surveillance team on point to be ready if anything goes south.” - “Yes, sir” Commissioner gets up. From his pocket he produces a wad of bills. Randomly takes a $50 and drops it on the table. - “Eat something, you are getting too skinny.” - “Yes, sir! Thank you, sir!” PEARL’S APARTMENT - HOURS LATER. - “Undercover. What should I wear to the oldest bar in all of Waifu Bay?” STREET - HOURS LATER. Pearl hasn’t dressed as a civilian in a long time. She put together old clothes and got on her way to the bar. - “FIRST POST is the oldest bar in Waifu Bay all the way on top of Leadership Street. An address easy to remember: #1 Leadership Street.” BAR “THE FIRST POST” - MOMENTS LATER. A worn out juke box plays old tunes. Couples drinking and talking. - “Just another night out, nothing more” Pearl tells herself to keep her cool as she approaches the bar. Orders a drink: “Can I have a double ‘punch in the face’?” - “Sure, honey” Replies the main bartender taking a black bottle from the top shelf. Grabs some ice and puts them on a glass. Pours heavily from the black bottle. Another bartender servicing the back bar has spotted Pearl and stares at her with detail. - “What’s going on?” Asks the girl on the other side of the counter to the bartender who hasn’t taken his eyes off Pearl. - “That girl over there, red jacket” Says the bartender. “Never seen her before” - “And…?” replies the girl. - “She is too clean and I just saw Rizz give her a very stiff drink” - “And? By the look of that body she can take it” - “Never mind, you are right. Probably here to ask the boss for work” - “Yup, she has the body to take on a group of sailors” AT THE FRONT BAR. Main bartender Rizz goes to Nadine, a cocktail waitress on her break. - “Hey, Nadine…” - “Fuck off, Rizz! I still have 10 minutes on my break” - “Yeah, I know. But there’s someone here to see the boss” - “Who?” (Turns around and sees Pearl) “Bimbo on red?? Never seen her before. Probably a freshy asking for a job. Ok, I’ll go tell the boss” VIP SECTION - MOMENTS LATER. Nadine has escorted Pearl to the back. Points at the end of the hall way. - “She is through that door” Pearl takes a deep breath and opens the door. MYSTERY CHARACTER: - “Come in.
