Detective Pearl has been listening closely. Li is lost in her memories. - “My village was very prosperous town. Soil was rich and the people were hard working folk. And like many places like that, mean people took advantage of all the riches the land has to offer. A group of ill-intentioned people were abusing the town, sucking on the people’s labor for their own benefit. My father was a big leader in the community and was fighting against them” - “One night, they broke into the house, I heard muffled voices and sounds, a struggle. I was scared. Then silence again. After a while I decided to go to my father’s room. (A pause) And that was the last time I saw him.
