I could tell Janelle was upset. When something's bothering her, she goes out on the apartment balcony and has a smoke. Janelle knows cigarettes are bad for you; still, she feels smoking helps her cope with life's curve balls. I stepped out onto the balcony. "Hey, babe," I said. Janelle looked at me and gave me a slight smile. "Hey, sugar." She put out the cigarette in the nearby ashtray, then walked over to me, and we kissed. "I missed you, honey. I missed you so bad." Holding Janelle felt so good; the perfume she wore, the warmth of her body. When she felt ready, she'd tell me what was bothering her. Right now, she just wanted me to hold her.
