Aviani, seeress of the Pelanna Valley people, knelt naked in a dank dungeon cell, chained and humiliated. The seeress wept as she recalled what had happened to her and her people. The central village was attacked, people were killed, and several women were taken prisoner. Aviani was taken, she was sure, because of her prophetic ability and her physical beauty.
