After the jump gates stopped working spontaneously, leaving the Procyon cluster cut off from the rest of the galaxy - new powers rose up to take their place. Factions, corporations, cartels, pirate gangs and more rose to fill the gaps in power. Finding purchase between the Solarian Union and the Helix Marittime Combine, Khira Bionetics operates in the biological and genetic engineering markets - bringing them into direct competition with the Aurelius Trade League and their subsidiaries, who make their profits in the Cybernetics and Robotics industry. Recently, Khira Bionetics rolled out their latest merchandise to consumers all across the cluster - the Federpelz. Genetically engineered to be the perfect companions, and tick every theoretical box that draws the masses to companion animals. Their release took the cluster by storm, igniting controversy on the limitations and laws of selling sapient beings, whether or not corporate ownership challenges these galactic laws, and whether or not they should be treated as individuals or products. Regardless, their surprise release shocked the Aurelius Trade League - forcing them to come up with something of their own to compete - or be lost to the biological monopoly that was now taking over the cluster.
