She said the academy has a huge clock tower.” After more than an hour of circling, they finally spotted it. They parked and walked toward the imposing building, stopping under the carved sign. “College of the Magical Arts,” Ankha read. “That explains why you never told me what she studies. When it faded, Tara stood transformed into a full lioness-girl—mane, tail, claws, and all. Onto an older branch of the subway, where the stations are smaller, the lights dimmer, and the trains rattle through tunnels that seem to belong to another age. Twenty minutes later, she emerges onto a quiet dark street. Night has settled over the city. Lyra walks three blocks beneath flickering streetlamps until she reaches an old apartment building squeezed between two newer towers. Its stone façade is stained by decades of rain, its entrance narrow and unremarkable. She pushes through the heavy door and crosses the deserted lobby, presses the highest button... The elevator groans upward. Four. Seven. Ten. Twelve. With every floor, something in her changes. The girl who couldn't look a stranger in the eye stands twelve floors above the street and calmly looks down at the entire city. A siren wails somewhere in the distance. Her eyes narrow behind the mask. By daylight, she is Lyra — the quiet emo girl in the back of the room, hood up, headphones around her neck, hoping nobody will notice her. Pearl sits down quietly in a large conference room. “As most of you know by now, we have a new poison polluting our streets. We believe a gangster that goes by the alias ‘Kokoroto’ was the one who started smuggling them through Waifu Bay. Many more have followed on his footsteps. They are known in the underworld as the ‘NyanNyan’ band and they keep smuggling in catgirls and offering them on the White Market.” Pictures are shown on a large screen. They had us working extra hours the last couple of weeks.” Pearl knows the drill so without even asking she starts taking her clothes off. - “How can people do something like that?” - “I don’t know Jennings. But I also want HornyTown to be a safe place. That’s why I joined the Force”. - “Barry, help me catch those bastards!” - “I will do everything in my power to help you get those bastards.
