Marigold, a recent graduate of the Brighthaven Witching Academy, liked to dabble in esoteric magic. One day, she decided she wanted to create a living wooden marionette, one that wouldn't need strings and could be a helpmate for her. She wrote up her spell, made sure it was correctly worded, raised her wand, and recited the spell. A blue-smoke puff appeared, and when the smoke cleared, instead of a wooden puppet, there was a duplicate Marigold, only shorter. Flustered, Marigold blurted, "Who or what are you?" "I'm your poppet, Marigold. Your spell created me," the creature said. "But I wanted a puppet," Marigold wailed. "Well, let me read your spell," offered the poppet. Marigold handed over her spell. The poppet read through the spell's text carefully. "Aha! I found the problem," the poppet declared. "You wrote 'poppet' instead of 'puppet'. Tsk, tsk, Marigold. Should you wish it, I'll be happy to review your spell texts from now on. I want to make sure your magic is the best it can be."
