A Very Successful Business Unit

INTERNAL MEMO To: David Bennett, CEO From: Kevin Elliot, Business Unit Supervisor David, Just a quick note regarding my visit to the Donut Shop (Business Unit #497) in Omaha. I was curious to know why this particular Donut Shop was experiencing such phenomenal sales success. Apparently, Marion Jones, the store manager, is very popular with her customers. One customer told me that Ms. Jones treats everyone who comes into the store like family. Ms. Jones is an attractive older woman who exudes an aura of, well, what I would call "momness." She has a personal warmth that puts people at ease. Couple that with our excellent pastry offerings, and it's no wonder her sales have been so successful. Maybe the company should consider older "mom" types as potential store managers—just a thought. K.E.
