Well, I guess this is where I leave you," Naomi said, with a knowing smile, her eyes following Cherry and Ling-Xiu as they disappeared into the crowd. "Looks like there's some gossip that needs handling." Shade raised an eyebrow, amused. "Gossip?" "Let's just say your band's already causing a stir," Naomi winked before turning to leave. "I'll fill you in later. It was really good seeing you." "Same," Shade watched her walk off toward the couch, where Nana-Cha and Vesper were already waiting, Nana-Cha's laugh cutting through the music a second later. She stayed by the bar alone, hat tilted slightly, scanning the club with that evaluating look of hers that never fully switched off. "So you're the one with the hat," @cro_bo said beside her. Shade turned her head slowly, finding him without bothering to hide her interest. She smiled, tilting her black-lipsticked mouth. "And you're the one who decided to walk up without being asked. Bold." "Let's just say I don't usually let something that eye-catching pass me by." "Mm. Good answer." Shade leaned against the bar, crossing her arms, studying him with the same calm she used to evaluate everything else in the club. "Most people just stare from a distance. At least you had the nerve to walk over." "Does that count in my favor?" "It counts for something," she said, her voice dropping, sharper. "Haven't decided how much yet." He didn't back down, which seemed to earn him a flicker of genuine interest in Shade's eyes. "What would it take to raise that count?" "Depends." She leaned in slightly, the space between them closing without any rush. "Can you actually keep up, or do you just talk a good game?" "I'd rather show you." A slow smile crossed Shade's face — the one her bandmates already knew well, the one that meant someone had just earned her full attention. "Good." She straightened up, turning her back to the bar, letting him see exactly where she was headed. "Follow me, then. And I hope that promise is worth what it costs." She didn't need to look back to know he was following.
