This is Ray.
She is one of the founders of Aethelgard, and is a survivor of the World Shift. She is a powerful magic user proficient in transmutation, spatial sorcery, and witchcraft. She is 127 years old, and has seen many things. She lived through the end of the world and lived to tell the tale (if she ever decides to tell it).
Most people know her by other names — First Witch, for she was one of the first few that have learned magic, survived long enough, and grown powerful enough to be recognized as the pioneer of the present model of arcane studies, and was the founder of the first covenant of witches in the new world; and she is also known as the Mother of Monsters, for she has created and birthed many new monsters lineages into the world in her attempts to fight the threats against humanity and save her people from extinction.

In the eyes of many, she is a quite and reserved woman, flying above the world, never touching the ground, far from mortal affairs, unreachable, untouchable. Her overly clinical way of speaking also created a sense of distance between herself and others.
In truth, she is a gentle woman, very kind and caring. Perhaps too much so. She has sacrificed much of herself for the sake of others as she would never subject other to her own mechinations, to the concern of her loved ones.

The passage of time and the tribulations she had to endure have worn her deeply. She has seen to much, cared too much, pained too much... Now she distances herself from people, from the ground, from the world, from suffering. Because up there, everything seems so small, inconsequential, and far away. She could observe everything from afar, and yet be far enough to not witness any of it. When humanity got back on its feet and could survive and thrive without focusing on survival alone, she has distanced herself further. After all, she did not have to be there for them all the time anymore.

However, it wasn't always like this. There was a time she was still only human. Living a quite life when she could. She was also a biologist and researcher. In the months leading to the World Shift, strange things and creatures have appeared here and there. The government has funded a secret facility for research of these things.

Oh, did you know? Ray used to dance too. She was really good.

She is sometimes reminiscing about those days. The day when all she had to worry about was not being late to work. Traffic. Salary. Dancing. The mundanity of modern day society. About those days before everything changed.
