Impromptu Meeting

The email was quite clear: Report to Ms. Meadows' office at 3:00 pm sharp. So, at the appointed time, I knocked on her office door. "Come in." Megan Meadows, the new head of Marketing (and my boss) sat on her desk, tapping a pen against her mouth. "Have a seat, Mr. Slate." She set the pen down. "I wanted to meet with you as you're proving to be a valuable member of my team. You handle your work assignments exceptionally well, and your fellow co-workers find you pleasant to work with." She paused. "And you don't seem to be fazed by my being a catgirl. It's been my experience that some men have a problem with that. You, however, have always been courteous with me; you've behaved like a gentleman, and I appreciate that. In fact, because I appreciate your professionalism, I'm making you the Hanover marketing account manager. I think you'll do quite well. What do you say?"
