Weren't you furious because they were taking away your customers!!??" - "Well" Answers Madame Li "It was more like they were helping us carry some of the heavy load." Pearl still looks at her with intrigued eyes. (2, 3) - "The girls had become EXPERTS on stage seducing and luring customers in" (4, 5) - We built such a high reputation for this place that there were more men coming for sex than girls here to take care of them! Out of respect or maybe out of amazement but she stays silent. Everything Madame Li has told her is working inside her mind. Everything makes sense to her. Everything except for one thing . . . "Madame Li" Pearl says with caution "I have heard your story completely and attentively. I am amazed at your resilience and I admire you for everything you had to endure ever since you lost your father and left your village. I admire you, I do, I really do. And up to this point everything has made complete sense to me, but there is one thing I don't understand . . . if you are glad that the pinks arrived, and I completely understand you being relieved by them, then . . . then . . . Why am I here? Why did you call for me? Why say you wanna help me if you just told me you are grateful for the pink girls being smugled in?? Why??? Anger starts building up inside Madame Li, slowly she cocoons in, as if shrinking inside an invisible shell. She collects her knees placing her arms over them and hidding her face behind her arms. - "Madame...You know I am after those Pink creatures. If you are Ok with them, why am I here??? There is something still that you are not telling me. What is it??!" Madame Li's throat is in a knot. With a voice filled with anger she says: - "You wouldn't be much of a Detective if you didn't ask the right questions" Madame Li is lost in anger. Detective Pearl's patience grows thiner. - "WHY!?" Pearl repeats. "Why-am-I-here!?" Madame Li decides to once and for all blurt it out and says: "Because I need your help! Because I can't… I can't..." A heavy pause. - "You can't - what?" Pearl demands. - "I have no problem with those pink girls. I DON'T CARE about them!! It's HIM I can't get rid of!!!!" HIM??? Pearl thinks. - "Him? Who is HIM??" Pearl asks.
