OC: Mel ♥

Mel had spent most of her life convinced she wasn't very brave. Before Team Rocket, she'd barely traveled beyond the Miltank farm she worked at during the summers. Back then, talking to strangers made her nervous to the point where she'd frequently trip over her words. Joining Team Rocket was supposed to fix that. New places, new people, new experiences—surely she'd learn to stop being afraid of everything eventually. What she hadn't anticipated was that most of her assignments would involve phrases like “steal this” or “take that.” She wasn't exactly comfortable with that part. So she improvised. If something could be bought, Mel earned the money to buy it. She delivered food on her motorcycle, walked Pokémon, painted walls, hauled boxes, bartered, traded, and occasionally lost several hours helping somebody she'd originally only stopped to ask for directions. Once, while traveling to steal a Pokémon from a nearby town, she helped an elderly woman with some chores and left carrying a picnic basket full of snacks. Another afternoon disappeared because she found a hungry Oddish beside the road and couldn't bring herself to leave until she was satisfied it had eaten enough. In the end, her reports were always marked MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Mel figured nobody needed to know precisely how she'd accomplished such feats. By the end of most weeks, Mel returned to headquarters exhausted, dirty, and somehow carrying more thank-you notes than stolen goods. She'd peel off the black uniform, drop her red scarf somewhere nearby, and sink into her bathtub topped with a glorious mountain of bubbles. She'd always promise herself that tomorrow she'd behave like a proper Team Rocket grunt. Maybe she'd intimidate somebody. Maybe she'd steal something without paying for it first. Then her phone would buzz with another message from someone she'd helped, she'd smile despite herself, and Mel would decide there was always next week. ♥
