Here is another memory preserved and, mostly, mixed with my imagination 😏 True story behind it:
This summer, I was on a one-day ship cruise in the Aegean Sea, third deck. I took photos and videos of a lot of random things like the sea, the foamy waves, the f*cking shore, the coves, the cliffs, the other boats or the awkwardly dancing fellow passengers and other sh*t. A few weeks later, when I was rewatching all our footage from that day, I noticed a girl there who was showing all those textbook signs, signals and nonverbal language cues: brief but repeated glances at me, a soft shy smile, a twirling of her hair with every turn of her head, tucking her hair behind her ear, fidgeting in my chair - yes, she even sat in my deckchair - but I noticed her, her eyes and the signs only when I paused, rewound and zoomed in on the footage. And the best part is that when I watched all the other videos afterwards, I realized that she had spotted me long before I had even noticed her sitting in my chair 🙈
So, yeah, besides the fact that I'm really short-sighted, I was so oblivious, dumb and dense, because I was so distracted by other girls, as some "discrete boob inspector", that I completely overlooked the cutest, sweetest girl (except she was also really busty), who might have been genuinely interested and was practically doing the “mating dance.”
The moral of the story is: how many of these subtle or even obvious signs I have overlooked, and walked past of years of potential connections, moments, conversations, dates, relationships, because, well, I am too blind, distracted or self-doubting to see what was right in front of me, literally sitting in my chair. The scariest thing now is realizing that this is probably my fucking pattern 😁
