We've shipped a big batch of updates — headlined by image editing for everyone and a faster app across the board.

Image editing for everyone

You can now edit your existing images with a dedicated editing model, right inside the image viewer and lightbox. No need to start over from a prompt — tweak what you already made and keep iterating. It's available to all users.

Seedance 2 Mini

Seedance 2 Mini is a new, lower-cost way to generate video with Seedance 2. It's great for iterating quickly and stretching your credits further.

A much faster app

We spent significant time optimizing our database, and you should feel it everywhere:

• Pages load noticeably quicker, especially posts and profiles.
• Tag autocomplete is now instant — suggestions appear the moment you type.
• The app holds up better during busy periods, with fewer errors and hiccups.

• Reference media for video — generate videos guided by reference media, with more reliable finalization and references shown in your history.
• HD face enhance is back, along with a cleaner image actions dropdown.
• Folders on mobile — organize your creations into folders on the create page, now fully working on mobile, with custom folder cover images.
• Tools graduated from beta — image-to-image, upscale, and referrals are now full features.
• Comment safety — added spam filtering and blocked comments from banned users.
• More reliable credit refunds — failed video generations are now refunded reliably.

• Compact create is the new default - The streamlined compact create layout is now the default, bringing model, image, and video controls closer together.
• Personal API access - Generate programmatically with personal API keys, rate limiting, and a new API keys page under your account.
• Organized notifications - Notifications are now split into categories so it's easier to see what matters at a glance.
• Longer history for free users - Free accounts now keep generation history for 7 days.
• Anima improvements - Anima now supports batching and clearer uploading status while your generations process.
• Explore page rebuild - Rebuilt the explore experience under the hood for a faster, more reliable feed.

• Follow your favorite tags - A new tag follow system lets you keep up with the styles and subjects you care about most.

• Longer daily streaks - The daily claim system now supports continued streaks past +6.
• Prompt privacy fix - Prompts on hidden posts no longer leak through the API.
• Generation reliability - Prevented accidental duplicate generations from rapid repeat clicks, and fixed a mobile modal that could close instantly on social posts.

• Compact create layout - The create page now has a more complete compact layout with image, video, and model controls brought closer to feature parity with the classic view.
• Model family controls - Compact create now shows model family selection in the generation drawer, bottom bar, and model popover.
• Similar posts - Post pages can now show related community posts so you can keep browsing from a creation you like.
• Post reporting system - Users can report posts, and moderators have a dedicated area for reviewing flagged content.
• Moderator tools in post views - Moderators and admins can flag posts from post cards, profiles, and post modals without leaving the current view.
• Admin reporting dashboard - Admins now have a dedicated post reports dashboard with clearer sensitive-tag controls and report context.
• Better free-user posting guidance - The create page now explains when an image is not saved for free users, so it cannot be posted later.
• Profile and feed visibility fixes - Fixed flagged-post visibility on user pages and improved handling around similar posts and sitemaps.
• Notification polish - Fixed the notifications pane so it no longer pokes out above the window.

• Nested comments - Comment threads now support replies, cleaner indentation, and better controls for opening deeper conversations.
• Mentions in comments and posts - Tag other users with @username in comments and post descriptions, including usernames with dashes or underscores.
• Mention notifications - Mentions now create notifications, and comment links can open directly to the relevant conversation.
• Comment sorting - Switch between top and newest comments on posts.
• Discover Creators tab - Explore now includes a creator discovery view with an expanded leaderboard and easier access to active community members.
• Improved profile pages - Your own profile now has clearer private stats, owner-only badges, localized labels, and a faster path from navigation.
• Hot feed improvements - Hot ranking now mixes fresh and high-quality posts more fairly, reduces repeated top spots between users, and graduates already-viral posts sooner.
• SEO and sharing polish - Post, tag, model, and creator pages now expose more server-rendered links and sitemap coverage for better indexing.
• Admin and moderation tools - Internal user pages, post flagging, support replies, and moderation workflows were reorganized for faster review.

• Smarter prompt moderation - More borderline prompt cases now go through server-side review instead of being blocked immediately, reducing false positives while keeping restricted content checks in place.
• Clearer moderation messages - Moderation warnings now use a unified overlay across image, video, Flux, Seedream, and Anima generation forms.
• More reliable posting - Fixed a case where deleted or missing media could leave behind "ghost" posts in feeds.
• Better explore pagination - Feed requests now keep the signed-in user context while loading more posts, improving personalized results and pagination consistency.
• Hot feed tuning - Adjusted the Hot ranking decay so strong recent posts stay visible longer without making the feed feel stale.
• Create page polish - Anima prompt controls were refined with updated preprompts, a fixed action bar after save, and an auto-resizing negative prompt field.

Seedance 2.0 — Full Release

Seedance 2.0 and Seedance 2.0 Fast are now available to all users, no longer in beta.

• Seedance 2.0 Fast is now the default video model — faster generation with great quality.
• Text-to-Video mode — Generate videos from just a prompt, no starting image required. Toggle between Image-to-Video and Text-to-Video below the model picker.
• Reference video input — Use an existing video as a reference to guide your generation. Drag and drop from your history sidebar or tap to browse on mobile.
• Seedance 1.5 provider consolidation — All Seedance 1.5 generations now run through BytePlus for improved reliability.

Anima Preview 3

A new Anima model version is now available alongside Preview 2.

• Updated model picker — Portrait-style model cards with a cleaner selection experience.
• Prompting guide — Moved to its own modal, accessible from a dedicated button below model selection.
• New default preprompt — Lighter quality tags (masterpiece, best quality, score_8) that work well across both Preview 2 and Preview 3.
• Glossy preset — The previous preprompt is still available as a "Glossy" preset option for users who prefer the original look.

Enhancement Tools for Everyone

Upscale and HD Face Regen are no longer restricted to beta testers — all users can now access them from the Image Actions menu.

The "Send to Video" button is also now available to everyone, making it easy to turn any generated image into a video.

Bug Fixes

• Image action buttons (Post, Download, Recreate, etc.) now become available immediately after an image saves — no longer need to click away and back.
• Fixed video post info panels to show full generation metadata (model, mode, aspect ratio, seed, audio, camera settings).

Anima — Next-Generation Image Model

Anima is now available for all users. This is a new DiT-based model with significantly improved prompt understanding and detail rendering compared to our existing SDXL-based models.

• Natural language prompting — Describe what you want in full sentences. Anima understands relative positioning, character differentiation, and complex scenes far better than previous models.
• Mixed prompting — Combine natural language with Danbooru-style tags in any order. Use @artist prefixes for artist style influence.
• Multiple samplers — Choose from Euler, Heun, DPM++ 2M, ER SDE, and more depending on your quality/speed preference.
• Dedicated inspiration gallery — Browse example Anima generations directly in the create page to get started quickly.
• Prompting guide — Built-in guide with tag ordering, quality tags, and natural language tips available from the Anima form.

Preprompt System

Quality and style presets are now built into the generation form. Each model base (Pony, Illustrious, Anima) has its own default preprompt that automatically adds quality tags to your prompts. You can customize or disable these from the preprompt settings.

Performance & Polish

• Faster page loads — The create page now loads the form instantly while user data (history, favorites, folders) fills in progressively. No more staring at a full-page skeleton.
• Cached server data — User data and model lists are now cached server-side, reducing database load and speeding up navigation between pages.
• Smoother loading states — Image history, folder list, and bookmarks now show properly styled skeleton placeholders while loading, with no layout shifts or scrollbar jumps.
• Inspiration image caching — Inspiration gallery images are cached for 10 minutes, eliminating redundant database queries.

We're excited to announce that video generation is now available on BetterWaifu.

After a week of beta testing, image-to-video is officially live for all premium users. Generate any image as usual, then turn it into a short animated clip with a single click.

How it works

1. Generate an image using any model in the style you want.
2. Click the video button on any generated image to animate it.
3. Watch your creation come to life — the video will be saved to your history when complete.

What to expect

• Videos are generated from your existing images — think of it as bringing your creations to life.
• Results are short clips with sound (a few seconds) that capture motion, expressions, and camera movement.
• Videos can be shared as social posts, just like images.
• Your history has its own media type filter so you can filter by video.

Availability

Video generation is available to all premium subscribers. Each video costs credits, and the exact cost depends on the generation settings.
