Roxy Bledsoe's Last Stand

The date was May 21, 1952. The place was the Shady Rest motel, just outside Paso Robles, California. That day marked the end of bank robber Roxy Bledsoe. Roxy had robbed two banks in the Salinas Valley and was heading south, presumably to Los Angeles. Police were tipped off that Roxy was holed up in Paso Robles. Police converged on the Shady Rest, demanding Roxy surrender. Roxy responded by screaming profanities, then opening fire with a submachine gun. Police returned fire, and Roxy's crime career and her life came to an end.
