After a very intense and messy first round of the tournament, the judges gave the sixteen contestants a week off to relax and recover while they deliberated. While the initial process of choosing who to be in the tournament itself had been quite difficult and controversial, it was nothing compared to narrowing down the sixteen hard working and beautiful contestants to a top eight. In particular, Celes Chere and Rinoa Heartilly were quite close to being chosen to go on. But, in the end, the following eight made the next round, where they were given a much calmer and more traditional swimsuit competition! Each contestant was given their own beach chair around the pool and told to act natural while the judges conversed on their swimwear and beauty;

#1 = Rydia (Final Fantasy 4)

• Rydia was quite happy to make it to the next round, not feeling as beautiful and grown up as some of the other contestants. She showed up in a green sling bikini that matched the color of her hair and eyes, set off against a bright red flower in her hair. Being such a carefree and natural woman, Rydia put on no airs in her time at the pool, soaking up the nice day and summoning some friends (like Chocobo and Carbuncle) to spend some time with!

#2 = Rosa Farrell (Final Fantasy 4)

• Rosa showed very little emotion after hearing she was to move on to the next round, simply smiling and giving Rydia a hug. For the swimsuit competition she certainly made herself comfortable in a modest way, though her pink and white striped bikini still showed off plenty of her beautiful figure. With her delicate complexion, Rosa pulled her chair under a beach umbrella and read poetry, showing off her feminine charms and regal demeanor.

#3 = Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy 7)

• A perennial fan favorite, most people assumed Tifa was going to move on, but she at least still seemed personally relieved that all her efforts in the orgy round weren't wasted. Still, it was clear she was used to the limelight, and her demeanor was relaxed as she found a simple blue beach chair, laid it back, and relaxed in her black bikini while staring at the blue sky. Her body, slick with suntan oil, certainly drew a lot of excited chatter from judges and other contestants alike!

#4 = Aerith Gainsborough (Final Fantasy 7)

• Aerith was quite the contrast in reactions to her best friend Tifa; While Tifa was calm but relieved to be moving on, Aerith was all grins and excitement, both because of her competitive streak and the chance to be seen alongside someone as beautiful as Tifa. While technically the only contestant to wear a one-piece swimsuit to the pool, the cute pink number Aerith had chosen with its deep cleavage and semi-open back certainly showed off a lot of her charms. Especially as she showed off, stretching and turning on her chair while sipping a refreshing orange juice.

#5 = Quistis Trepe (Final Fantasy 8)

• The only person seemingly as surprised as Rydia to be going on was Quistis, who assumed a lanky school teacher such as herself would have no chance amongst generals and princesses. But the judges clearly liked her unassuming beauty, and she convinced herself to wewar a micro bikini to show it off. Not that she showed it off in the same sense as Aerith; Quitis brought a book to distract herself from just how little she was wearing. But, at the same time, she appreciated just how much of a distraction she was to the others around her.

#6 = Lulu (Final Fantasy 10)

• Lulu moved on to the round of eight with a calm and aloof demeanor, arriving at the pool in a black sling bikini and mirrored sunglasses. The goth sorceress's pale skin needed protection from the sun, so she moved her chair under an umbrella and relaxed with a cool drink. Reading or impressing others seemed to be the furthest thing from her mind, and it was hard to tell what the mysterious woman was thinking behind her shades as she massaged her curvy body absent-mindedly.

#7 = Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca (Final Fantasy 10)

• The princess was perhaps the most confident contestant amongst those who moved on to the top eight, taking it completely in stride and unashamedly showing up in a gold microbikini. She had absolutely no qualms in showing off her strong, regal body and getting some tan lines in the process, shifting her oiled up body on her chair many times to make sure all of her curves were evenly appreciated by the sun and the onlookers.

#8 Fran (Final Fantasy 12)

• If Ashe was the most confident contestant than Fran was the least concerned, putting even the stoic Lulu to shame. She seemed to not care if she moved on or not, uncaring what the human contestants and judges thought of her superior Viera body. This was even more clear in her choice of "swimwear", wearing an armored metal bikini, complete with a barely there c-string bottom. Whether her unconventional swimwear and attitude would take her on or not just waited to be seen.
