OC: Hazel aka "Chestnut"
Hazel, affectionately known as "Chestnut" to the locals, is a warmhearted, easygoing woman from the Pacific Northwest who takes life as it comes. Neither particularly optimistic nor pessimistic, she simply rolls with whatever the day brings, rarely finding much reason to complain. She's a creative soul who enjoys reading, painting, pottery, thrift shopping, and attending concerts, occasionally disappearing into nature for a month at a time in her RV. Her home is filled with mismatched dishes, handmade pottery, secondhand treasures, and souvenirs collected from gas stations, campgrounds, and roadside shops. Though she isn't especially talkative, Hazel genuinely loves being around people and is always happy to lend a hand. She's the kind of person who rarely organizes a gathering of her own but will be the first to arrive and the last to leave when someone needs help.
Despite her unassuming nature, Hazel has become something of a local legend. Nobody seems to know exactly who she is or why she keeps turning up, but everybody knows Chestnut. She might spend an afternoon sketching beside a lake, then spontaneously decide to set up a free pancake and sausage buffet for hunters returning from the final day of the season, simply because she figures they'll be hungry. She remembers practically everyone she meets, often greeting people by name months after a single conversation. When asked how she remembers, she simply smiles and replies, "I never forget a face." Ironically, most of those same people couldn't tell you her real name. Hazel doesn't particularly mind. She isn't looking for recognition, attention, or anything in return. She just enjoys making things, meeting people, and leaving the world a little warmer than she found it.
