Let me mix up a drink for you!

Take the Cuba Libre: the people’s drink, a classic of cola, rum and lime. Perfect as it is. But even classics deserve a sequel.

Dark rum goes in first. Deep, brooding, molasses-souled, pouring like liquid midnight. Then the cola, rising in a fizzing little army of sweetness. A few dashes of Angostura follow, ruby-brown drops of clove and cinnamon and mystery.

And now, the twist. Where the lime once ruled alone, there is grapefruit: bold, bitter, blushing. Its zest drifts over the glass in a pink-golden mist, a sunrise over a sea of rum. Sweet meets bitter, dark meets bright, and neither blinks.

Don't dare to shake it. Stir it. Not with a stupid spoon. Put Sunglasses in and - stir!
