🐎 CENTAUR – THE PROUD GUARDIAN OF THE WILDERNESS

🐎 Race: Centaur (Horse-Human Hybrid / Half-Human)

🏛️ Origin:

Greek mythology. In this Bestiary, Centaurs are ancient, natural hybrid beings that have inhabited plains, forests, and mountains for millennia. They combine human intelligence and dexterity with the strength, speed, and endurance of horses.

⚠️ Danger Level: I–III – Low to significant, depending on subspecies, physical strength, combat experience, and special abilities.

Centaurs are generally peaceful but fiercely defend their families, herds, and territories.

🌿 Habitat:

Grasslands, steppes, open forests, fertile valleys, and mountain foothills. Mostly nomadic, they follow seasonal migrations and natural trails, establish temporary camps, and usually avoid densely populated areas.

🐎 Appearance and Anatomy:

Centaurs possess a human head, two human arms, and a human upper body joined to a complete horse body where the horse's neck would normally be.

Their lower body has four powerful horse legs with hooves and a long tail.

Coat color, size, musculature, and appearance vary by subspecies and ancestry. Male and female Centaurs share the same basic anatomy.

💪 Abilities:

• Exceptional running speed and endurance
• Powerful kicks and charging attacks
• Excellent hearing and keen perception
• Skilled archery and spear combat
• Outstanding wilderness navigation
• Effective cooperation within herds

Their size and anatomy limit movement through narrow caves, buildings, and difficult terrain.

✨ Magic:

Most Centaurs possess no innate magical abilities. Only rare subspecies wield nature magic, healing powers, or spiritual abilities. Magical Centaurs are often highly respected within their communities.

🏕️ Society and Behavior:

Centaurs primarily live in nomadic herds and tribes.

Each herd is usually led by an experienced tribal elder, assisted by a council of respected members. This council advises on migration routes, conflicts, alliances, and important communal matters.

Family, freedom, mutual protection, and ancient traditions are deeply valued.

Although many Centaurs are peaceful, some herds are warlike or distrustful of outsiders.

🐎 Subspecies:

🌲 Forest Centaur:

Skilled hunters and archers inhabiting vast woodlands. Excellent at navigating forests and using natural cover.

🌾 Steppe Centaur:

Fast, enduring travelers adapted to open plains. Capable of covering enormous distances during seasonal migrations.

⛰️ Mountain Centaur:

Exceptionally strong and resilient, adapted to rocky slopes, harsh climates, and difficult mountain terrain.

✨ Magical Centaur:

Rare individuals possessing extraordinary magical or spiritual gifts, including nature magic and healing.

Subspecies differ in anatomy, lifestyle, abilities, and cultural traditions.

⏳ Lifespan:

Centaurs typically live 70–90 years. Their development resembles that of humans, although young Centaurs can use their four legs from an early age. Magical subspecies do not automatically live longer.

🥗 Diet:

Primarily plant-based omnivores. They eat grasses, herbs, fruits, vegetables, and grains. Some herds also consume fish or meat, depending on habitat and tribal traditions.

👶 Reproduction:

Centaurs reproduce naturally and give birth to live offspring. Newborns already possess a human upper body and a four-legged horse lower body.

Children are raised within families, often with support from other herd members.

❤️ Love and Relationships:

Centaurs can experience deep romantic love, affection, and lasting partnerships.

Loyalty, love, and family are highly valued. Marriage customs and relationship traditions differ between tribes.

Neither magic nor their nature binds Centaurs permanently to a single partner.

🤝 Relations with Other Races:

Centaurs often approach outsiders cautiously. Peaceful herds may trade goods or form alliances with neighboring communities.

Other tribes consider strangers a threat to their freedom and ancestral migration routes.

Their behavior depends on each tribe's experiences and traditions.

⚔️ Weaknesses:

Despite their strength, Centaurs struggle in confined spaces due to their large, four-legged bodies.

Leg injuries severely impair their speed and combat abilities. They also depend on sufficient food, water, and suitable migration territories.

📜 Special Characteristics:

Centaurs are among the few natural hybrids combining human intelligence with the physical abilities of large hoofed animals.

They possess no unified culture, but countless tribal traditions passed down through generations.

Some herds wander peacefully through the wilderness, while others are renowned for their powerful warriors, exceptional archers, or rare magical talents.
