The Survivor

Angela survived the shipwreck. The sequence of events was all jumbled up in her mind: she heard the ship's timbers groan and crack as the jagged rocks ripped the hull open; she remembered she'd been naked as she'd had no time to get dressed; she heard a ship's officer yelling at her to abandon the ship and swim for the nearby shore; on the beach, she'd found a ragged blanket and used it as a makeshift loincloth, and found a place to sleep. In the morning, Angela searched for water. She found a gentle stream, knelt down in the stream, cupped her hands, and eagerly drank.
