Then Isla and Erin both lost it, doubling over the character sheets in a fit of laughter that had Erin wheezing and Isla wiping her eyes. "Why not?!" Amelia flushed scarlet, hands flying to her hips. "What's wrong with that?" "Nothing's wrong with it," Isla managed between giggles, "it's just โ€” it's really not you, Amelia." "I could be a paladin!" Amelia insisted, though the stammer undercut her a little. "I can be brave when it matters. Okay yeah I get it, shields and swords โ€” but looking after people... that's a me thing!" Erin, still grinning, threw an arm around her shoulders. "Sure it is, Sir Amelia." They settled eventually, dice sorted, character sheets smoothed flat, and the laughter faded into the easy quiet of a plan finally taking shape. Image 11 So there it was: a paladin who flinched at her own reflection in polished armour, a barbarian who couldn't wait to swing first and ask questions never, and an artificer who'd already mapped out four contingency plans nobody had asked for.
