So, listen, people, have you ever wondered why some posts get hundreds of likes, even hitting 1000+, while the vast majority die with just a few?
I've been asking myself this question too, and being as curious and stubborn as a mule, I wanted to figure it out. It took me weeks and dozens of sleepless nights ("Do you ever sleep, by the way?", reptorn asked me two weeks ago). And I finally figured it out!!!
So. Itโs not that some pics are masterpieces and others are daubsโalthough some are. Itโs all about the time, when you post them. And then the algorithms. Nothing else.
So, this is how it works. There are โhigh-trafficโ and โlow-trafficโ hours here, right? If you post your pics, when there are only few users, hasta la vista, baby, your post will sink into oblivion. Inevitably, inescapably, irreversibly.
Now youโre saying you canโt know when it is crowded here, right? Well, you can. After weeks of observation, I can say with certainty that this โgolden hourโ, or "sweet spot", is around 0:00โ2:00 am CET, plus minus.
This means that if you post anything during this period, and preferably around 1:00 am, thereโs a really high chanceโthough no 100% guaranteeโthat by the end of the day your post could accumulate 500 likes or even more. And even if not, you still get more likes than if you post them at different time.
This is not a theory or conspiracy. Here is the proof. Statistically, of the 28 most-liked posts (4 rows by seven pics) each dayโI mean every single dayโbetween a third and a half were posted during this โgolden hour.โ If this happens every day, it isnโt an anomaly or luck; itโs a rule. You can verify this for yourself by checking the timestamps of posts in the โMost Likedโ section of your โExploreโ feed, or by scrolling down to the โLatestโ section for that time period between around 0:00-2:00 am.
So, you can post literally almost anything, and thereโs a pretty good chance youโll earn 60โ120 likes within first two hoursโthatโs 0.5โ1 like per minute. The rest of the work will be done by the algorithms, which pin those "hot" posts to the top rows of everybody's feed, leaving nobody else with a real chance to grow. So, you can literally do nothing, just sit, and at the end of the day you harvest 100s of received likes like a farmer.
So, what posts will earn most likes tomorrow, November 2nd? We can predict this with high degree of probability - those, which will be posted this night at 1:00 am plus / minus one hour.
Now you say, wait, what about other posts that gain 100s of likes and were not created during this golden hour. Yes, there are also other windows of opportunity, let's call them silver hour and bronze hour, but none works as effective as the golden hour.
